The Members’ Café, Members’ Bar and Billiard Room areas have a more relaxed dress code, described as “smart casual”. This may also apply to members who are using a private room for a function. However access to other heritage parts of the club would normally require business attire (jacket and tie) with the exception of occasions where more formal dress is stipulated.

Smart casual: Jackets are preferred, includes open-neck shirts, dress jeans and other smart dress. Smart casual does not include athletic sportswear, open sandals, clothing bearing logos or pictures, shorts, tee-shirts, torn or revealing clothing.

Should a member or a guest’s attire be obviously inappropriate then a manager or the general manager may discreetly seek a solution but club service staff would not normally approach the member or guest in question. Any non-compliance regarding the dress code would be noted, considered and acted upon by the general manager following the event.

Military dress of the day is acceptable attire of the Canterbury Officers’ Club members and guests.
