We pride ourselves on providing a convivial atmosphere where guests and members can relax and enjoy the peaceful heritage surrounds. If this is your first time visiting the Club, we hope you find your experience warm, welcoming and memorable.
To ensure you make the most of your time at the Club, please familiarise yourself with the following guest information.
General Appearance & Presentation
At The Canterbury Club, standards of dress form an important part of the Club experience. Members and guests are asked to dress in a manner that is smart, tasteful, and appropriate to both the occasion, time of day, and traditions of the Club.
Smart Casual / Business Casual attire is the minimum standard throughout the Club. Members and guests are expected to wear smart, clean, pressed attire in good repair. Military Dress of the Day is acceptable attire for members and guests.
For Gentlemen: Gentlemen must have at least one collar as part of their attire, either from a collared shirt or from a tailored jacket or blazer, tailored trousers or approved denim, and appropriate footwear. Jackets are encouraged throughout the Club and may be required for designated events and formal dining occasions. Collared shirts should be tucked in, and a smart polo or crew neck t-shirt may be worn only when paired with a tailored jacket or blazer. Shorts are not permitted for men at any time.
For Ladies: Dresses, skirts, tailored trousers or approved denim, blouses, knitwear, and other smart attire with appropriate footwear.

The Club's car park is reserved for use by Members Only
The club's car park, accessed from Worcester Blvd, is reserved for use by Members of the Canterbury Club while they are using the Club, and Members/Guests staying in the Club's Accommodation.
Guests and non-members are asked to find alternative parking.
There are numerous convenient parking options nearby with two public carpark lots opposite the Club on Worcester Blvd, the Christchurch Art Gallery Public Carpark an easy three-minute walk away, and several on-street parking spaces surrounding the Club.
Use of Electronic Devices
All electronic devices must be switched to silent mode or turned off upon entry to the Club.
Hand-held electronic devices, including phones and tablets, may be used to access reading material in any area of the Club.
Voice communication, laptops, and tablets on stands or with attached keyboards are not permitted in common areas, corridors, the 1872 Restaurant & Bar, the patio, or the courtyard. These items may be used only in the Club’s Private Function Rooms and the Business Centre, and staff will be pleased to direct members and guests to an appropriate private location on request.
