THE CANTERBURY CLUB

Welcome

We pride ourselves on providing a convivial atmosphere where guests and members can relax and enjoy the peaceful heritage surrounds. If this is your first time visiting the Club, we hope you find your experience warm, welcoming and memorable.

To ensure you make the most of your time at the Club, please familiarise yourself with the following guest information.

Guests are asked to observe the club dress code when visiting the clubhouse.

1872 Bar & Restaurant and Billiard Room areas observe a ‘smart casual’ dress code. This dress code may also apply to members who are using a private room for a function.

Smart casual dress includes open-neck shirts, dress jeans, and other smart dress. Jackets are preferred. Smart casual dress does not include athletic sportswear, open sandals, clothing bearing logos or pictures, shorts, tee-shirts, torn or revealing clothing.

Access to other heritage parts of the club would normally require business attire (jacket and tie), with the exception of occasions where more formal dress is stipulated. Military dress of the day is acceptable attire of the Canterbury Officers’ Club members and guests.

If you have any questions about the dress code or are unsure of what constitutes acceptable attire, the member who has invited you will be able to clarify.

The club car park is reserved for use by Canterbury Club members.

The club car park is reserved for use by Canterbury Club members. Guests and non-members are asked to find alternative parking. There are plenty of convenient parking options nearby, including the Christchurch Art Gallery carpark, an easy three-minute walk from the Club.

Voice communication on electronic devices is not permitted within the club, including the courtyard.

To maintain the relaxed atmosphere of our clubhouse, we ask that you turn off your electronic device or switch it to silent mode before entering the club.

If you find you need to make or take a phone call during your visit, our staff will be happy to direct you to an appropriate location.

Guests must be invited to visit by a current member of the Canterbury Club.
